Background:
 Dr David Olufemi Awolala is a climate change economist, agricultural economist, and adaptation finance expert. He holds a Ph.D Economic Sciences in climate change economics of the Department of Economics, Universite Cheikh Anta Diop, Dakar, Senegal and the ZEF Centre for Development Research, Universität Bonn, Bonn, Germany under the initiative of the West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL) doctoral programme in Ghana. Dr Awolala had background in agricultural and resource economics at both Master and Bachelor degrees with First Class Honours at the Federal University of Technology Akure, Nigeria. He joined the services of the Federal University of Technology Akure, Nigeria in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics with 15 years of cumulative teaching, research and consulting experiences. His key qualifications focus on environmental economics, agricultural economics, and development policy in agriculture, water, land use, disaster risk management sectors with competencies in agricultural production and resource use economics; value chain analysis; agribusiness management; financial and business modelling; climate risk management; vulnerability assessment and adaptation science policy; climate change adaptation finance; weather and climate services; project impact evaluation, and sustainable livelihood assessments. Dr Awolala was a Research Fellow of few research organizations namely the African Science Weather for Information and Forecasting Techniques (SWIFT) under the United Kingdom Global Challenge Research Fund; the Adaptation Finance and Management Programme (AFFP) of IDRC but co-managed by the Thailand Development Research Institute (TDRI) and Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, Germany., the African Climate Change Leadership Programme (AfriCLP) of IDRC and co-managed by the University of Da res’salam in Tanzania and University of Nairobi, Kenya; the West African Science service Centre of Climate Change and Land Use (WASCAL) in Senegal.
